Tips for Better Sleep

Sleeping is a very huge factor for a successful and constructive day ahead for everyone but sleep has been greatly taken for granted nowadays so these tips for better sleep from doctors and sleep specialists are important.

The first tip for better sleep is to not try too hard. There are lots of people who wake up in the middle of the night who are then worried on what to do because they can’t fell asleep afterwards. Doctors advised that if a person who usually wakes up in the middle of the night cannot feel asleep afterwards in about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting then they should leave the bedroom and go to a quite place in the house to do something that is calming like for example reading.

After doing relaxing activities like reading if the person becomes sleepy then that’s the time that he or she will attempt to go back to sleep. The main caution is to not stay in bed if the person is not sleepy or is tizzy in because that will only cause the increase the sleeping problem.

Another excellent tip is to avoid naps with the possible exceptions of infants, elderly and the recuperating patients. Doing naps especially the ones close to sleeping hours will only upset the body clock and can be the possible cause of insomnia.

Eating is also a main factor that destroys a good night sleep. If eating cannot be avoided then avoid eating heavy meals close to bedtime although light snacks can be ideal with the exception of consuming coffee, cola and other beverages that contain caffeine as well as over the counter medicines.

One thing that can be very useful in getting a good night sleep is to think of a relaxing place. This place can be anything and obviously varies individually. A fairly good example would be of thinking of your childhood place or town where you had happy memories and try to imagine yourself walking through downtown. Experiences show that people who do this method will usually fell asleep long before they got to their desired destination in their minds.

Sleeping pills can be a good solution but they can also be the cause of the problem that in one point they have become the main cause of insomnia in the United States. The main problem in using sleeping pills is that they are meant to be used occasionally or as prescribe in the label but typically that is not how they are used. People who buy them usually use them on long term basis which is a huge mistake because on long term use these pills will loss effectiveness so users will have to increase their dosage more and more. These increased dosages with less effect will only maximize the side effects of the pills which is the main cause of various sleep disorders.

Another good method is to use lights in the bedroom for 30 to 40 minutes at a time during bedtime to promote a good night sleep.

Turning off cell phones and other gadgets will also help in getting a good night sleep especially nowadays where technology is almost everywhere and is part of our daily life.

Another excellent tips for better sleep is to establish a routine. Conditioning your body to sleep at the same time each day will usually promote a good night sleep.

Following these tips for better sleep will certainly have an impact on your sleeping habits and may solve your sleeping problems.

Tips to Sleep

Sleeping nowadays is taken for granted especially on the younger generations so reading this article about tips to sleep is a must. In order to stay healthy and fit, a good sleep is most important for any live person. Sleep is a very good factor in order to have a productive day. Sleep deprived individuals will tend to make mistakes more often and are always looking dry and moody. Tips to sleep is a great read and might help you get that well deserve sleep.

As I was saying, the younger generations nowadays have less and less sleeping time. With the advancement in internet technology as well as new electronic gadgets, teenagers will certainly have a hard time getting enough sleep.

In addition, “night life” is becoming more and more popular today that some people got their internal clock upside down. Meaning, they sleep at daytime while go out at night. This lifestyle is tedious and is very unhealthy.

This is largely because club parties are usually done during nighttime. Well, it is certainly dull to have a party in the middle of noon isn’t it? Also, because teens nowadays are mostly liberated, they sacrifice their sleeping time in order to party all night thus the popular saying, party till dawn is created.

Very good tips to sleep are to avoid drinking coffee and other beverages on the few hours before sleeping. Since coffee contains caffeine which is a stimulant, it is certainly helpful to achieve a good night sleep.

Other tips to sleep are practicing meditation and deep breathing. The main purpose of these tips to sleep practices is to calm your mind and body in order to prepare for a good night sleep. Since people usually remember their daily troubles and other things when they lie down on the bed, meditating before sleeping will empty your mind of these stressful things.

Sleeping in a clean and comfortable environment is also a very good tips to sleep. It is certainly not helpful if your neighbor next door is having a party while you are going to sleep. Unless you are one of those rare kinds of people who can sleep amidst a performing live band then you certainly won’t get any sleep.

Ever wonder why children are given milk before going to bed? This is because milk contains a sleep-inducing amino acid called tryptophan. Drinking milk is not only for children and it is also a very good tips to sleep. For better effects, it is best to drink milk on an empty stomach.

Another very helpful tips to sleep is to sleep on the same time everyday and to take naps no more than 30 minutes a day. Sleeping on the same time each day will condition your body to shut down on that specific time. Meaning, if you usually sleep at 8 pm then when that time comes, you will become sleepy.

If you follow these tips to sleep then a good night sleep is not just a dream.

Sleeping disorders have become quite common in most of the countries across the world. People suffer from problems such as falling asleep, inability to stay asleep, and failure to feel restored by sleep.

In general, the causes for sleep disorders can be categorized into internal, external and due to disturbance in the normal circadian pattern. Most often, sleep disorders are associated to diseases of any organ and a major factor for internal causes of sleep disorder.

It is common that most of the diseases manifest with a disturbance in the normal sleep pattern. However, serious sleep disorders can be caused because of medical conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sleep-related gastroesophageal reflux, peptic ulcer, fibrositis syndrome, back problems, and neck problems. Any impairment in the brain such as central apnea and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease are also potential cause for sleep disorders. Breathing problems are also major causative in cases such as obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.

In the case of endocrinal changes, sleep disorders are evident symptom such as in cases of thyroid problems, in which patient are with insomnia or over sleep. The sleep problems associated with menopause and pregnancy related ones are very common. The alteration in the circadian rhythm is a major causative for many sleep disorders. Shift workers usually experience sleep disorders due to their altered sleep pattern and jet lag is a reason for sleep disorder among plane travelers.

Life style factors such as alcoholism and intake of alkaloids or caffeine can also contribute to the cause of sleep disorders. The environmental factors include light, noise, and change of bedding. The intake of certain drugs Lotronex and Tramadol are also proven to cause sleep disorders. The consumption of any particular substance may also attribute sleep disorders in some patients. Anyway, the causative factor will differ from one patient to the other.

Rozerem Online is a new development in sleep therapy, it comes under the class of drugs called sleep medications. Rozerem affects chemicals in your brain that may affect sleep. Rozerem is prescribed for the treatment of insomnia characterized by difficulty with sleep onset.

Have you ever wondered ‘exactly’ why we tend to sleep longer when we’re sick? As you might already know, we sleep in “sleep cycles”. We can categorize these cycles into “light sleep”, and “deep sleep.” But just HOW important deep sleep is to our immune system?…
As you read, it’s during the first 3-4 hours of our sleep that we experience the longest period of Stage 3 and Stage 4 sleep.
Stage 3 and Stage 4 Sleep is also commonly termed “deep sleep.”

It’s during deep sleep that we experience very low brain waves called Theta and Delta brain waves.

Our blood vessels dilate and all the blood that is usually stored in our organs throughout the day moves into our muscles to nourish and repair them.

Our immune system also activates during deep sleep to fight disease. This is why people tend to sleep longer when they’re sick.
When you don’t take proper care of your inner sleeping system, you’re usually at risk of “poor sleep.” Poor sleep happens for a variety of reasons which I outline in the Powerful Sleep book, but the main “symptom” is the inability or the difficulty of obtaining proper amounts of “deep sleep.”
It’s very common for people who travel across many time zones to get sick very quickly, we usually blame this on “Jet-Lag.” However, jet lag happens because of the body’s natural body temperature rhythm being out of alignment. Jet-Lag commonly creates a disruption of deep sleep, added with the stress of travel, this is a perfect mixture for lowering one’s immune system.
Most people live without being aware of all the actions they’re taking in their lives that are completely detrimental to their sleeping system, which are depriving them of energy, and making them SLEEP LONGER than they really need to. Fortunately, there are simple methods to take proper care of your inner sleep system, and strengthen it for maximum performance.

We all have to sleep; it’s a part of our lives that we can not change. There are many reasons why sleep is important to us and there are many things involved in sleep that affect us.

Sleep

The average adult needs to sleep about 8 hours in each 24 hour period. Many people do not get enough sleep. That could be the reason why many people suffer from stress and other health problems. Sleep is important to allow our bodies and minds to rejuvenate themselves. Sleep is very important and is needed for you to live your life to the fullest and to be the healthiest you can be. Sleep is needed for you to gain energy and work in this modern day, fast paced world.

Insomnia

Insomnia is the word for the sleep disorder in which a person is unable to fall asleep. There are many reasons why a person may suffer from insomnia and there are many adverse affects of insomnia. Insomnia is not something you want or something you want anyone in your care to have. It can cause many problems and is fairly serious. Depending on how long the person actually goes without sleep, depends on the seriousness of the problems.

Sleep Disorders

There are other sleep disorders besides insomnia. Sleep terrors, night tremors, sleepwalking and narcolepsy are just some of a few of many sleep disorders. Many people suffer from sleep disorders no matter how normal you may be. Everyone from your newborn baby to the grandmother down the street could very easily have a sleep disorder that is affecting their everyday life. However not all sleep disorders cause problems but none of them are good to have. If you think you have a sleep disorder, you should see your doctor to get a diagnosis and treatment.

Sleep is the regular state of natural unconsciousness observed in
all mammals, birds, and fish. It is heavily influenced by circadian
rhythms and by hormonal and environmental factors as well. Sleep
appears to perform a restorative function for the brain and body,
as evidenced by the myriad symptoms that result when an
individual is deprived of sleep.
The function of sleep in health and in disease is being increasingly
studied in specialized sleep laboratories throughout the world.
Not only insomnia, but also more recently elucidated sleep
disorders such as sleep apnea and narcolepsy are evaluated in
such facilities.
Before advances in the fields of neurology, neuroscience,
electronics, and genetics were made, scientists studied the
behavioral characteristics of sleep, such as its pattern, depth, and
varying frequency. In more recent times, the electrical impulses
generated by the brain are recorded using a device called an
electroencephalograph (EEG), and individual genes relating to
sleep-related brain function, such as the circadian rhythm, are
isolated. Molecular biology, medical science and epidemiology all
play an important role in modern studies of sleep.
Sleep is often defined using specific criteria relating to EEG data.
All mammals and birds fulfill the criteria for sleep based on EEG
recordings. In animals where EEG data is not readily available, or
their small size precludes recording EEG, behavioral and gene
specific data are utilized for sleep studies.
Sleep regulation
The cycle of sleep and wakefulness is regulated by the brain stem,
external stimuli, and by various hormones produced by the
hypothalamus. Certain neurohormones and neurotransmitters are
highly correlated with sleep and wake states. For example,
melatonin levels are highest during the night, and this hormone
appears to promote sleep. Adenosine, a nucleoside involved in
generating energy for biochemical processes, gradually
accumulates in the human brain during wakefulness but decreases
during sleep. Researchers believe that its accumulation during the
day encourages sleep. The stimulant properties of caffeine are
attributed to its negating the effects of adenosine.
The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus plays an
important role in the regulation of circadian rhythms. The SCN is
influenced by external light and generates its own rhythm in
isolation. In the presence of light, it sends messages to the pineal
gland that instruct it to cease secreting melanin.
Thus, three processes, each influenced by hormonal, neurological,
and environmental factors, underlie sleep regulation:
¡¤ A homeostatic process determined by prior sleep and
wakefulness, determining “sleep need”.
¡¤ A circadian process determining periods of high and low
sleep propensity, and high and low REM sleep propensity.
¡¤ An ultradian process.
The interrelationships and relative importance of each process and
system remain uncertain.
Memory is highly dependent on sleep. REM sleep appears to help
with the consolidation of spatial and procedural memory, while
SWS helps with the consolidation of declarative memories. When
experimental subjects are given academic material to learn,
especially if it involves organized, systematic thought, their
retention is markedly increased after a night’s sleep. Mere wrote
memorization is retained similarly well without an intervening
period of sleep.
REM sleep (or Active Sleep) seems to be particularly important to
the developing organism. Studies investigating the effects of
Active Sleep deprivation have shown that deprivation early in life
can result in behavioral problems, permanent sleep disruption,
decreased brain mass (Mirmiran et al. 1983), and an abnormal
amount of neuronal cell death (Morrissey, Duntley & Anch, 2004).
According to the Ontogenetic Hypothesis of REM sleep, the activity
occurring during neonatal REM sleep is necessary for proper central
nervous system development (Marks et al. 1995).
Given sleep’s heterogeneous nature, it is difficult to describe a
single “function” of sleep. Based on current knowledge, it is
apparent that it has many functions.
For more information visit, http://www.sleepinfocenter.com

Sleep apnea is identified with pauses in breathing while asleep. There are signs to look out for that may indicate you are suffering from sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can be a dangerous condition so you should consult your doctor should you display any of the common symptoms. The following paragraphs offer some answers.

Of all the sleep apnea symptoms, the first one that comes to mind is sleepiness. Someone with sleep apnea struggles to get a good night’s sleep. Consequently, that individual is always sleepy. Yet sleepiness represents only one of the sleep apnea symptoms.

Some sleep apnea symptoms are similar to those found with sleep deprivation. Morning headaches and dry mouth are examples of such symptoms. Repeated morning headaches and frequent episodes of dry mouth could easily a sign that you’re suffering with sleep apnea.

Other sleep apnea symptoms are problems with concentration, forgetfulness and depression. These are among the less obvious sleep apnea symptoms. They represent behavior that has been associated with many things other than sleep deprivation. They might easily be overlooked or attributed to hunger, aging, or stress.

One way to determine whether or not lapses in alertness result from sleep apnea is to try and improve the quality and quantity of your sleep.

Keeping regular hours bedtime hours, avoiding caffeine and the development of a bedtime routing should all help you to sleep better. If you use these strategies, over a period of time your daytime sleepiness should diminish. However, if you don’t start to see improvement after a couple of weeks it may be that you are suffering with sleep apnea and a visit to your doctor would be advised.

Formal identification of sleep apnea requires observation during sleep. Snoring can be another sleep apnea symptom, although not all those snore suffer with sleep apnea. Unfortunately, not all individuals have someone at hand to listen for sounds of snoring. With small children, snoring is less pronounced and sleep apnea is best detected by a skilled physician.

Regardless of an individual’s age or medical history, the presence of sleep apnea symptoms needs to be addressed. Consult with your physician if you are concerned about sleep apnea.

Although we might think that our bodies simply shut down and completely relax during sleep, in fact many parts of the body remain surprisingly active. This is especially true of the brain which sends out a constant stream of signals controlling what is known as our sleep cycle.

There are five stages to a normal sleep cycle and, on a good night’s sleep, you will experience all five of them several times in succession. The five stages of sleep are broadly divided in two groups. The first group, which comprises the first four stages, is known as non-rapid eye movement or NREM sleep, while the second group, which contains just a single stage, is referred to as rapid eye movement or REM sleep.

The main difference between NREM and REM sleep is seen in terms of the brains activity. In addition, REM sleep is also characterized by irregular but rapid breathing and heartbeat, a rise in blood pressure and almost no muscle activity.

Throughout a normal night’s sleep you pass through the various stages of sleep several times, but tend to spend about the first third of sleep in the NREM stages and the final third of sleep in a REM stage.

Stage 1 is the stage during which you fall asleep and sees you feeling drowsy and drifting in and out of sleep. Eye movements begin to slow during stage 1 and you start to lose control over your muscles. It is also quite common during this stage to experience sudden contraction and jerking of the muscles.

About half of all sleep is stage 2 sleep during which your brain activity and heart rate slows, your temperature drops and eye movement is reduced to virtually none at all, although there can be occasional short bursts of eye movement.

Both stages 3 and 4 are very similar and, together, are referred to as deep sleep. Brain waves during these two stages are very slow and there is no movement in either the eyes or the muscles.

REM sleep is interspersed throughout the other stages of sleep, which do not necessarily follow a strict numerical sequence, and, in total, represents about a quarter of the time spent in sleep. The first period of REM sleep for example follows stage 1 and lasts for only about ten minutes, while the final period of REM sleep, from which you normally awaken, lasts about an hour.

This repetition of the sleep stages gives rise to the sleep cycles and a normal night’s sleep consists of several sleep cycles. As these cycles continue throughout sleep, REM sleep is also seen to increase. Although it is difficult to control our sleep cycles, there is a great deal that we can do to prevent these cycles from becoming disrupted and thus to ensure sound sleep and, where necessary, to help to cure insomnia.

Treatment for Sleep Apnea

Millions of Americans have problems sleeping. One of the leading sleep disorders is called Sleep Apnea. Sleep Apnea occurs when a blockage occurs in the throat of the person and blocks oxygen from reaching the lungs. A person with sleep apnea can stop breathing for a few seconds or up to a minute. People with sleep apnea can stop breathing up to one hundreds times in one night. Every time the body does not get oxygen, it instinctually wakes up. Sleep apnea sufferers can awake many times during the night causing them an extremely disruptive sleep.

Sleep apnea does not just disturb a person’s sleep but also their day. If you don’t get enough sleep you will be fatigued and possibly irritable during the day. However for sleep apnea sufferers there is a treatment that is extremely affective. It is called CPAP.

CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Air Pressure. The device is a mask that is worn at night during sleep. It looks like a catchers mask, but is not uncomfortable once a person gets used to it. It forces air down the lungs so the person does not wake up. This treatment method has proven overwhelming effective in patients that suffer from sleep apnea. If you think you are suffering from sleep apnea it is advised that you consult with a physician for proper diagnosis and treatment.

MYTH #1 ) “If you sleep longer, you’ll be more awake and have more energy in your life”

TRUTH: Sleeping longer ROBS you of energy and damages your sleeping system. There are several reasons why sleeping longer damages your sleep system. What most people don’t know is that there is a very important element of your inner sleep clock which is prior wakefulness. When you sleep longer you limit your prior wakefulness which puts stress on a number of other factors such us your melatonin hormone levels, your exposure to sunlight, and your body temperature rhythm. Getting longer sleep or “catching up on sleep” only weakens your sleep system, which in turn can even lower your immune system. The common belief that trying to sleep less makes you tired and low on energy is simply because people don’t understand how the bio-temperature rhythms work (what you will learn soon).

MYTH #2) You need to “Catch Up on Sleep” if you missed some before.

TRUTH: Unless you go on a huge sleep deprivation marathon, you do not need to “catch up on sleep”. It is only during the first 3 – 4 hours of sleep that we experience most of Stage 3 and Stage 4 sleep. Sleeping longer than you usually do isn’t physically beneficial to you in anyway, and puts your body temperature rhythm out of balance.

MYTH #3) “I feel so low on energy, I Must Get More Sleep”

TRUTH: More Sleep DOES NOT Provide You With more Energy! You don’t need MORE sleep, you need QUALITY sleep. People think that sleep is a very basic thing. We don’t really think about it do we? We sleep, we wake up, and we magically feel refreshed, don’t we? In truth, sleep is actually quite a complex and fascinating system that most of us take for granted. Because most of us don’t understand how our inner sleep system works, we aren’t even aware of all the actions we’re taking in our lives that are damaging our sleep systems and depriving us of energy. There is a difference between MORE sleep, and POWERFUL sleep. The only way to make your sleep more physically energizing is to learn about the inner science of sleep! Only once you learn how to optimize your sleeping system for maximum performance, can you try to reduce your sleep.

As you may have discovered through your life, having sleep is very important to your well-being. Sleep is essential to you because sleeping will give you the necessary energy to live and breathe through another demanding and stressful day. Sleeping also gives you the time to take it easy, relax, and to stop thinking about your worries and anxieties that will sometimes trouble you in your waking state.

Sleep also helps to look after your body and help your memory to stay sharp. Sleeping is as important as eating and drinking so we should pay attention to our sleeping habits like we check our bank accounts. Without proper sleep, your body will not function efficiently.

Unfortunately, most people feel they do not get enough sleep. Today’s high-speed lifestyle causes people to experience lack of sleep. This is largely due to over working and poor diet; while others experience a variety of sleep disorders that just stop them from getting enough sleep.

There are different reasons for sleep deprivation. Somniphobia, (fear of sleeping) tension or stress, environmental noises, working at a night shift, and travelling around from place to place can cause sleep deprivation. But the most common and well-known causes of sleep deprivation are sleep disorders, and the best known sleep disorder is insomnia.

Sleep disorders cause lack of sleep and excessive sleepiness (normally occurs during the day) too. However excessive sleepiness caused by sleep disorders is not healthy. They do not have good quality like the sleep a normal person will experience.

The Sleep Process

As we fall asleep, we enter the transition sleep called Stage 1 and begin our first sleep cycle. Within a few minutes we go into our Stage 2 sleep.

Stage 2 sleep is where the other three stages come from. Within 15-20 minutes we have gradually evolved into Stage 3 then Stage 4 sleep.

Stages 2, 3, 4 are called delta sleep or NREM (non-rapid eye movement) sleep. Our respiration and heart beat slowdown during these 4 stages. Our body also becomes immobile.

After almost half an hour of NREM sleep, our brain goes loco and we go back to stage 2 sleep and then go to REM (rapid eye movement) sleep where our brain becomes very active and our respiration and heart rate increases again.

This is the stage where our dreams occur. Our eyes also move in all directions under our eyelids. The REM sleep will happen for only about 10-20 minutes and then goes back to stage 2 again. This marks the end of the first sleep cycle and then starts all over again.

As we start all over again we gradually lose our time for NREM sleep and replace it with longer alternating stage 2 and REM sleep and by the final sleep cycle, we will spend about half our time in stage 2 sleep and half in REM sleep. Sleep will normally end after six cycles.

The holiday season is that time of year when we are tempted to overeat, go to bed later and wake up earlier. It seems that we have twice as much to do and half the time to do it. Here are four reason why it is more important than ever to get at least eight hours of sleep.

Adequate sleep improves the immune system. Studies now suggest that adequate sleep impedes bacterial growth. For the average person, this would be at least eight hours. For children it is nine to ten hours of sleep, a night. We know that if we catch a cold or flu we are advised to get plenty of rest. Although REM sleep is only twenty percent of our sleep, a night, it is the part of sleep that restores our energy system. When we cut short the amount of sleep necessary, we are shorting ourselves on REM sleep. Lack of sleep makes us more vulnerable to infection.

More sleep helps handle stress. When we get an adequate amount of sleep, we wake up refreshed and ready to tackle the problems of the day. To be in a positive frame of mind, sleep is as essential to our well being as healthy eating and exercise.

Sleep plays a factor in minimizing weight gain. Scientists have found a correlation between adequate sleep and the hormones that regulate appetite. Sleep deprivation increases the level of the hormone that signals hunger and decreases the level of the hormone which sends a signal to our brain that we are full. Many Americans who are sleep deprived are also overweight. New evidence suggests that getting enough sleep is critical to maintaining a healthy weight.

Adequate sleep is necessary for safe driving. During the holidays, when traffic is more congested and road conditions are not always at their best, it is important to stay alert and drive defensively. The Department of Transportation has published several reports on the effects of sleep deprivation and traffic accidents. Research shows that sleepiness is responsible for twenty percent of traffic accidents.

Even though we may be tempted to stay awake and watch TV or read a book, it is important to try and go to sleep at an earlier hour. Sleep is our body’s way of rejuvenating itself. Less than adequate sleep can also cause irritability, mood swings and memory deficits. While it is important to get adequate sleep all year round it is essential during the holiday season, when we are more likely to cut back on sleep so that we can accomplish everything we feel we need to. This holiday season, try and get adequate sleep. You may find yourself enjoying the season more.

Hypnosis and sleep are very much related to each other reports new research. Before the advent of “sleeping pills” and other medically proved sleeping aids, which used chemicals to subdue the mind into a restful sleep, hypnosis was very much in use as a sleep inducing treatment for many who suffered from perpetual sleeplessness or insomnia. Even complicated surgical operations were performed after hypnotizing the patient into a deep sleep when the benefits of chloroform were unknown to surgeons. So there is a long history of the relationship between hypnosis and sleep.

When you look at a person who has been hypnotized, you can easily see the ‘trance-like’ sign of hypnosis that comes before a person falls asleep. As a matter of fact, hypnosis and sleep happens with the hypnotist telling the subject in a calm monotonous yet firm voice to go to sleep, though people going to sleep with the help of self-hypnosis are not uncommon…..

Do you always remember every aspect of a familiar car journey? Think about it, you probably remember parts of it, but actually your conscious mind took care of the actual driving and your sub conscious mind wandered into a hypnotic state. Daydreaming is another example of this.

Self-hypnosis CDs often work wonders in inducing sleep in people who have trouble getting off to sleep. These people also report a deeper, undisturbed nights sleep, again proving the connection between hypnosis and sleep.

Hypnosis And Sleep – Get Relaxed

A state of total relaxation, especially of the conscious mind is the ideal state for sleep to take place. This is mirrored by the process of inducing sleep through hypnosis, hypnotists try to block the conscious mind of their subjects while training the sub-conscious mind to accept their commands like ‘raise your hand’; ‘shut your eyes’, etc. a process in which the body is brought to a state of total relaxation and the mind becomes clear – which obviously is the ideal sleep pre-condition. Once the conscious mind is relaxed, sleep normally follows.

So, if you are having trouble sleeping consider the connection between hypnosis and sleep and see if it will work for you.

Sleep has an important effect in our daily life and functioning, it also affects our physical and mental health in many ways. This can be proved easily, when we do not sleep well or have problem sleeping we wake up tired, without energy and sometimes angry, and as a result of this, we are not able to do all the things that we normally do as working or studying, also it is very difficult to concentrate on anything and we usually are not in the mood to talk with anybody or get very angry for things without importance. On the other hand, none or almost none of these things happen when we have a good night’s sleep.

So, how much sleep is actually necessary? It varies for each person, and it depends on several factors like age. For example, infants require around 16 hours of bedtime, teenagers need about 9 hours and most adults need 8 hours on average. Pregnancy is another factor, women in their first trimester usually need to sleep more hours than they normally do. Also, if a person has been deprived of sleep in past days, the amount of sleep that person needs will increase.

And what does a good night’s sleep do for our health? Sleep seems to be important so that our nervous systems can work correctly. If we do not sleep enough we feel drowsy and can not concentrate on what we do, we also experience impaired memory and physical performance and we are less able to carry out math calculations. If sleep deprivation is prolonged, we experiment hallucinations and mood swings. Doctors and scientist say that, with enough sleep, used neurons have an opportunity to repair themselves, so if we don’t sleep properly these neurones become so depleted in energy that they can malfunction.

So here are the most important questions so far, what can we do to assure that we’ll get the amount of sleep we need? What can we do to treat any sleep disorder that doesn’t allow us to get that good night’s sleep we require? Doctors have many recommendations for their patients, but the most important of them is to use natural sleep aids and products like Sleepatil that help us to achieve their objective.
